Tourism Tofino Hates Bikes!
Tofino Chamber Hates the MUP!

Sponsored by users of the Tofino Bike Path or MUP

What's this? The end of the Tofino Bike Path? No, just the Tourism Tofino/Tofino Chamber making you think so.

But I want to go beyond the Tourism Tofino/Tofino Chamber land. What do I do?

Well, first weave between the two boulders they have set up for your safety. nudge nudge, wink wink

Hang on to your handlebars because the pavement ends and turns into loose gravel.

Make sure to watch for cars, motor homes and truck traffic because they have no signs saying watch out for you!

See Martha, there was a truck right there and they didn't even see you.

Isn't that always what drivers say - 'I didn't see you.'

That's why it's up to the person who owns the driveway to make sure bikers and users of the MUP are safe.

Jeesh Louise, now that the truck has missed us what's this?

It's the garden feature/obstacle with signs, rhododendrons, and flag poles right where the bike path should be.

Chose carefully, veer left into busy parking lot traffic or right out by the highway facing traffic head on.

Watch out for that SUV coming into the parking lot!

This biker, no connection to TTN btw, choose the veer into the parking lot during a lull in traffic

and looks like he made it, this time.

Okay, almost there, ride between the boulders, remember they're there for your safety, on the other end.

And you made it by one of the most dangerous sections of the Tofino bike path or MUP.

You may pass Go and continue to have fun at Cox Beach or keep going down the road to other destinations.

And, guess what you get to do it all again coming home - isn't that great!

Want to see a Safe Approach to a Much Used Driveway That Crosses The Tofino Bike Path or MUP

The Clayoquot-Orca Resort has gone to effort to make their driveway safe for everyone.

Lots of open space for good visuals, big painted STOP, clean driveway and MUP - impressive!

Compare that to what's going on at the Tourism Tofino/Tofino Chamber driveways.

No boulders to weaver between, no loose gravel to pedal through, no obstacle - what a concept!

Just smooth sailing on the MUP for bikers, walkers, skaters and everyone else.

What do you say Tourism Tofino/Tofino Chamber?
